The long-awaited combination of kannada director Yogaraj Bhat and kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar is finally being realised in YB’s next flick.
It’s the big question on everyone’s mind. Why didn’t two of Sandalwood’s best known brand names collaborate on a project earlier? And when at last they have come together, kannada filmmaker Yogaraj Bhat and Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s upcoming kannada film Paramathma (Free download songs here) has fetched 3.5 crore — beating even Jogaiah’s record — for its TV rights even as the film is just half-way in its making. The duo was earlier supposed to do two films — YB had approached Puneeth for Mungaru Male, while Lagori didn’t work out due to its sheer logistics. “This movie will hopefully make up for all the disappointments of our fans in the past. I’m excited about kannada film paramaatma because it stars a top notch and a dedicated actor like Puneeth. It’s a subject that will show a different dimension to him; it will be his best kannada film yet,” says Yogaraj. The director adds that he’s been impressed with the way Puneeth’s career graph has gone. “He’s been a child artist in many films and I was floored by his acting in Bhagyavantha. Besides, he has an amazing biography of over 20 years. If you compare, he’s my senior as it’s only been about six to seven years since I’ve started delivering kannada films, even though I’ve been in the industry for over a decade,” says YB. This kannada film’s unique title paramatma means the almighty. But Yogaraj Bhat, being the wordsmith he is, explains that it means the purest of souls. “Puneeth plays this innocent, earthy guy who is unassuming and lives life on his own terms,” shares Yogaraj. Puneeth, though, is known for his mass image — his fights and dance moves being the highlights. Yogaraj, meanwhile, is known for his soulful musicals and there’s no maarpeet in his movies. So how will he showcase the Power Star? “It will include the usual commercial ingredients but with new cinematic dimensions. And only Puneeth can carry off what I’m trying to experiment with in Paramathma,” feels the director. So when two of the industry’s biggest names come together, isn’t there a clash of ideas? “I was apprehensive about it, too. But Puneeth is an actor who completely surrenders himself to the director. He’s such a patient listener and goes entirely by the director’s vision. He’s a delight to work with,” says YB. The film also stars newbie Deepa Sannidhi, Aindrita Ray and Ramya Barna. He usually doesn’t repeat his heroines, so what made him cast Aindrita and Ramya? “Aindrita is a fabulous performer and I realised her potential in Manasaare. It’s the same with Ramya with whom I worked in Pancharangi,” he says. Paramathma might also be the first time that Yogaraj shoots in foreign locations. “Until now I showcased locales in Karnataka only because I’m someone who believes in being authentic. Ganesh and Yograj Bhat in a new film again?
Talks of the Mungaru Male combo of kanada actor Ganesh and Yogaraj reuniting for a project has been doing the rounds. Any truth to it? “Yes, both of us want to do a film together. But he has about four films to finish while I have my commitments. Let’s see how things work out,” says YB.
Kannada actres Radhika Pandit bags puneet's next kannada film
Crazy Star Ravichandran seems to be Puneet Raj Kumar's lucky mascot when it comes to launching his films. Right from Puneet's first film Appu to the recently released Jackie he has been the chosen one.
It was no surprise when he was invited for Puneet's new kannada film which was launched recently at Kanteerava studios, Bangalore. The movie is yet to be titled, which is a remake of hit film nadodigal. Many top signatories of the film industry including Mr.Basanth Kumar Patil President of KFCC and many leading artists attended the muhurath.
Shivaraj Kumar, brother of Puneet and Mrs Parvathamma Raj Kumar were there to bless the new project which is a remake of the trend setting Tamil film Nadodigal. Radhika Pandith, Loose Mada star Yogish, Srinagara Kitty are playing other major roles in the kannada movie.
This is the 79th film of Vajreshwari Combines, Dr. Raj's family banner. It is being directed by K Madesha, music is by V Harikrishna and Sathya Hegde is wielding the camera.
Kannada actress Radhika to star opposite Puneet Rajkumar
Everything is going right for Kannada film industry’s new sensational talent Radhika Pandit. Just last week her kannada film Krishnan Love Story completed a hundred day run establishing her as a dependable actress in the Box office.
A few days ago she won the Best actress Filmfare award for her performance in kannada film Love Guru and was nominated for the same award for the South Scope Cine award. And now the biggest feather in her cap has come about as she has been confirmed as the heroine for Puneet Raj Kumar in the Kannada remake of Tamil Hit Nadodigal which is to be produced under Power Star’s home banner Vajreshwari Combines.
Radhika Pandit has already signed Adhdhoori where she is being paired with Dhruv Sarja. The film is starting its regular shooting from October 4.
Nadodigal will be launched on October 17, Vijayadhashami day. The regular shooting of the film may start from the next day.
Yograj Bhat making new kannada film for Puneeth Rajkumar
Speculations over kannada director Yograj Bhat teaming up with power star Puneeth Rajkumar usually turn out to be false alarms. Not this time.
It is one of the most awaited teams in the Kannada film industry. In fact, for the last few years every time kannada director Yograj Bhat completed a film, it was speculated that his next film would be with Puneeth Rajkumar. Each time, it proved to be either false news or the project did not manage to take off.
Jayanna, the name synonymous with film distribution in Kannada is producing a new film and both Yograj and Puneeth have agreed to be part of it. The official announcement of the film will be made next week, says Jayanna. “This is a combination that will create the maximum excitement among Kannada audiences. The rest of the cast and crew are in the last stages of being finalised. The title will also be revealed then,” he said.
After super hit kannada film Gaalipata, senior producer Rockline Venkatesh managed to get Yograj and Puneet together for Lagori. Yograj even worked on the script for six months. But in the end, the director’s proposed shooting schedule of 200 days saw it being dropped like hot potato. There were talks that if Rockline failed it would be an impossible task for anyone else. It is no secret that Yograj wrote Mungaru Male with Puneeth in mind and wanted him to play the lead in Gaalipata as well. But it has taken five long years after Mungaru Male for the two to come together. “This new film will have a completely new subject. It is not Lagori. That project belongs to Rockline Venkatesh. We are developing a new story,” Jayanna said.
Actress Jayamala’s daughter Soundarya was said to be considered for Lagori. But finally she made her debut in a Telugu film. She is a strong contender for this film, sources said.

Kannada actor Puneet Raj Kumar`s new film Jackie songs
The audio of kannada actor Puneet Raj Kumar`s Jackie is all set to be released on August 20, the Varamahalakshmi festival day.
However, the quality of songs in the film might have really impressed the Anand Audio group which has decide to promote it in a big way. Already the song `Ekka Raja`, which was leaked, has become a big hit. However, Raghavendra Raj Kumar who is in charge of the film says that the song is an uncompleted version. However sources close to the unit say that all the songs in the film including the three songs shot in Namibia, South Africa, Austria and Italy have wonderful music composed by music director Hari Krishna. The hugely popular song from Jackie, Ekka Raja Rani Nanna Kaiyolage, that was leaked on the Internet is nowhere on the OST.
The ‘leaked’ song of Puneeth Rajkumar’s new kannada film Jackie has become an instant hit. The song Ekka Raja Rani Nanna Kaiyolage, however will not be found on the original soundtrack of the film that will be released on 20th. The now all-familiar tune will feature entirely new lyrics Shiva Anta Heloke.
“The lyrics Ekka Raja Rani were used as dummy for the original tune. Somehow that got leaked on the Internet. The same tune is on the CD but not with those words,” said Mohan Chabria of Anand Audio, which is releasing the music. The song that found its way on the Internet and was a popular download talks about gambling and how addictive and ruinous it is. Some of the song’s phrases have become catchwords already.
“True, this is the best commercial film song I have had in some time,” said Mohan. All the five songs in the film directed by Suri have lyrics by director Yograj Bhat. Since the film is a home production of the Rajkumar family, some of the phrases have been deemed inappropriate. There were cuss words and lines like, ‘90 hodi’ (drink 90).
There are changes in the music of Yograj-Bhat directed Pancharangi as well. The song being played on FM radio stations, Lifeu Ishtene, has different words in the soundtrack of the film. “Eleven versions of the lyrics were written and the one being played on FM stations is not in the CD or the film. I always choose roles that family audiences can watch. So, I don’t specifically worry about how my children may perceive the projects I do. Ours is a film family and I’m happy to have done such films so far.

Fatherhood has definitely brought out the best in me. Earlier, I took things for granted, but my daughter has made me take life more seriously — both professionally and personally. But it hasn’t affected my choice of roles because I’ve never done films that featured obscene scenes or that would make audiences uncomfortable. But being a father has definitely helped me become a better actor.

I’ve made an attempt to balance my time between my daughter, Chaaritrya, and my films. I do just 2-3 films a year now and I’m trying to spend as much time with her as possible. But I don’t think an artiste changes because he becomes a father. I’ve always played characters that my audiences like, and will continue to do so. I might, however, do the sort of roles my daughter would like to see me in when she turns three or four.

I have become more picky in terms of the roles I play, but just because I’m a father now, it doesn’t mean that I’ll only play a father on-screen. I’ll continue doing what’s best for me until audiences get bored of me. But it’s a great feeling to have a new entrant in the family. Previously, dad used to take care of me. Kannada Movie Review - PRITHVI

ACTORS: Puneeth Rajkumar, Parvathi, Avinash, CR Simha, Achyuth Kumar
For the first time, kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar essays a role where his character gets to say something about current issues. Prithvi portrays the struggle of a honest bureaucrat against the corrupt mining lords of Bellary. Loaded dialogues, breathtaking stunts and eerily realistic depiction of situations sets the foundation for what could have been an awesome film. Unfortunately, in the second half of the film, only the stunts remain and the film rushes to a hurried climax. Nonetheless Prithvi has enough ammunition to more than satisfy his fans.
Prithvi, (Puneeth) like any good on-screen hero, is the embodiment of truthfulness. He is an IAS officer who is dispatched as the DC of Bellary in a jiffy. Now, it does not need a film to tell what Bellary is famous for these days. But Jacob tells it anyway with enough cinematic masala. A mining lord who controls the state politics, runs it like a fiefdom, altering state borders and killing people at will. Prithvi’s clean up task is unenviable.
Some witty (‘Every son-of-the-soil cannot become the prime minister’) and charged dialogues (‘After 40 years of politics wearing shorts, I have to listen to some outsider’) add the necessary punch to the story. To make the narrative realistic, the director makes the film look like a documentation which partly fails the purpose for what could have been an insightful entertainer. A bold conclusion eludes the film and easy machismo finds the answer for all the troubles of Bellary. Jacob does a good job but Puneeth’s ‘power star’ image building exercise in the latter half of the film somewhat dilutes the effectiveness of Prithvi.
Puneeth and Parvathi share great chemistry but their interaction throughout this film is repetitive. Puneeth is never out of any scene. He seems to be there in almost every frame making the other characters look like far flung specs of mining dust. Prithvi is still worth a watch. Fans can look forward to multiple viewing.
Kannada actress Neethu cheated by noted director
Neethu who lost the lead role in kannada film Huli to Jennifer Kotwal says it was because of director Omprakash Rao’s foul play. “When I was signed on for the film, I was told that I would be playing the role of a television journalist. Without assigning any reason or informing me, the director then signed on Jennifer Kotwal for the same role. He cheated me,” she says. The film has Kishore playing the lead role for the first time in Kannada.
Yet the chubby kannada actress neetu need not worry much for a lost role as April is turning out be a month for a 'Neetu Film Festival.' April 9 will see the release of her film Krishna Nee Lateaagi Baaro, followed by Aithalakadi on April 16 and Thyagu on April 23.
After shimmying with Baba Sehgal for a song in Punit rajkumar, Neethu shared the stage at the State Film Awards 2009 last Sunday with Puneeth Rajkumar. “I am so happy that my programme at the awards was with Puneeth. Puneeth bags suri's next kannada film
“The two films I am most nervous and excited about at the same time are Prithvi and Suri’s next. The first one because of the combination of director Jacob (Varghese) and Manikanth Kadri (music composer). And any of Suri’s films will be a challenge,” Puneeth said.
Jacob Varghese has a tough follow-up act to do after the success of his first film Savari. Manikanth composed music for the film and the duo will now have the biggest star in Kannada to handle. Manikanth is the son of internationally renowned saxophone exponent Kadri Gopalanath. He has also composed music for films Ganesha and Mr Garagasa. That Suri will be directing a film for Puneeth rajkumar was in the news for some time. It is the title and schedule that has now been revealed. Suri is currently wrapping up Kari Chirate with Vijay, his third film with the actor. “Jackie is not about jockeys. It is just a name,” Puneeth said.

Monday started with new producer Darshan Priya writing a cheque for Rs 51,000 in aid of the victims of the flood in north Karnataka. She wrote the cheque while she was on the dais at the press meet of her film Hrudayadali Idenidu. The 23-year-old is producing her first film.
Later in the day, one of the producers of Raj — The Showman, Srinivas Murthy announced he is donating Rs one lakh (Still he has money!!) to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The film has completed 50 days and the director, Prem, claims that the film has collected in its first week what other films do in 25 weeks!!! But even asking by the reporters he doesnt disclose the any figures and he played it safe !!.
The film’s making is said to have cost Rs 10 crore and Prem says the cost has been recovered in the first week itself. Distributor Jayanna was more forthcoming and revealed that the gross collections of the film have been about Rs 25 crore and its net earning is in the region of Rs 12.5 crore. Considering that the film ran well in the districts that now lie submerged, the contribution seems too small. Isn't it??
Puneeth Rajkumar, the leading man of the film said that his family’s Dr Rajkumar Trust will be doing its bit and will announce a donation on Wednesday. “I feel so sad at the people's suffering. I appeal to all individuals to do their bit for the welfare of the victims,” he said.
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and the Karnataka Cine Artistes' Association are still silent on the issue.

THIS time, ee role nijvaglu ‘different’ aagide. Because namma kannada hero Puneet Rajkumar will be reprising Johnny Depp’s look in Pirates of the Caribbean in his forthcoming Raj... The Showman, directed by Prem. Namma Appu sports this look in a song, Kuch Kuch Dil Antide, shot across north India — the dunes of Jaisalmer, the Qutb Minar and the Taj Mahal.
“I conceived this image during the scripting stage and had no doubt that Puneet would be able to carry it off. We also tried out the look digitally before we went ahead with it. I’m sure Appu fans will go into a tizzy after watching him in this film,” promises kannada director Prem.
A team of make-up and hair experts from Mumbai and Chennai helped give the look a professional touch. “We spent Rs 4.5 lakh on the costumes for Puneet and the heroine Nisha Kothari for this sequence,” says Prem.
Choreographed by Nagesh, the lyrics for the track have also been written by kannada director Prem. “While Puneet will be seen in this get-up throughout the song, Nisha will sport five different looks — she’ll be featured as a princess of five places, including Egypt and Arabia. Appu plays her saviour in this sequence,” he tells us. The song will have lots of computer graphics, reveals Prem. “We only see this kind of digital imagery in Shankar’s films. So, I thought we could introduce it in our films too. After all, the Kannada market is also growing and our audience loves to see innovation on screen,” he says. Meanwhile, we hear that while the song was being shot, Puneet attracted so much attention that even firangs wanted to take pictures with him. “And when we shot at the Taj Mahal, the photographers took kannada power star Puneet’s pictures and started selling them for Rs 100 to tourists!” laughs Prem.
Srisanth graces the audio launch of kannada movie Jolly days
Jolly Days will be hitting the silver screen in a rocking style as the film is remade from the hit Telugu film Happy Days. Music director Mickey J Meyar’s original tracks are taken in the Kannada version with lyricist Kaviraj.

Kannada Movie Review - Vamshi
Vamshi takes revenge on the attackers in a severe style and he is put behind the bars. The local MLA bails out Vamshi and some more clashes separate the mother and son. Vamshi who is No 1 in the underworld on hearing the past of his mother in the hospital where Sharada is admitted; decide to surrender to the police. He comes to inform his mother but his mother’s calculation is different. She feeds him with poison in the food.
