Kannada film Mylari release got delayed

Meanwhile, Mylari has lived up to its hype, being one of the selected kannada films this year that was sold outright to distributors in all territories. Sources said the producer had already made profits. Of late, distributors are picking up films for distribution only on commission basis. Shiva Rajkumar, at 99, is still rocking. Kannada film Director Chandru is thrilled as well. “Rajkumar said he was very happy with the new look I had given in the film and the fact that the film has garnered such hype,” he said. Besides, Chandru has signed the actor for his next two projects.
Kannada film Mylari music controversy
The posters of kannada film Mylari, the 99th film of Shiva Rajkumar, seem to have a bug. The posters mention either Ashwini Audio or Anand Audio as the company through which the kannada film's music is available. The film’s audio was launched recently and Mohan Chabria of Anand Audio had said that the film had sold a record number of audio units before its theatrical release.
The presence of Ashwini Audio’s name on the posters is due to a business arrangement that was not kept. Ashwini Audio’s Ram Prasad owned the title Mylari, the rights to which he had steadfastly refused to give. That failed to deter the film's director R Chandru and producer Srinivas from using the title during any promotional activity. Ram Prasad had even complained to the Film Chamber about it. Finally, the good offices of Shiva Rajkumar and Ram Prasad’s brother Krishna Prasad solved the dispute.
As a peace offering, Ram Prasad was promised the audio rights of the film. But the understanding did not come to fruition as the audio rights were sold to Anand Audio. “It is not easy recovering money on big films. So we let it go,” says Krishna Prasad, prefering not to comment on the news that the audio rights were given to a rival company without his knowledge. The posters carrying the Ashwini Audio logo are the relics of this earlier understanding.
“It was their (Ashwini) film and I didn’t think it would come to me in my wldest dreams. Ashwini gave me a no-objection certificate but they did not reveal the reason and I did not ask. As for the name and logo on the posters, buyers really do not bother or worry about it. They do not ask why a particular film's music has not been released by a particular audio company. If that was the case there would be no piracy,” said Mohan Chabria.
Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar as Bhakta Kumbara
Shiva Rajkumar will be seen in the role of Bhakta Kumbara, a character his dad immortalised on-screen.
Right on the heels of accepting to play the Kannada version of James Bond, that his father the legendary Rajkumar essayed in four films, kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar has now agreed to act in the new version of Bhakta Kumbara. The original, made in 1973, is a devotional that is considered a classic of Rajkumar’s. This will be the second devotional film for Shiva Rajkumar where he will be playing the same role his father had earlier. Early in his career he acted in Shiva Mechchida Kanappa, that was modelled on Rajkumar’s first film Bedara Kanappa. Rajkumar even acted in that film. The two were seen again in the sequel of Gandhadagudi.
With Bhakta Kumbara, he continues to take the legacy of his father further. In his recent kannada film, Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu, montages of Shiva Rajkumar showed him in the getups of many famous characters his father had essayed. It included Bhakta Kumbara.
Shiva Rajkumar had expressed that the one role of his father’s that he would want to re-enact was Bhakta Kumbara. He made mention of this to the media at his residence last month while celebrating the completion of 100 films. “I cannot do what he has done. But I am confident that I can at least match 30 per cent of it. That would be a great achievement,” he had said.
The very next day producer Sandesh Nagaraj spoke to Shiva Rajkumar about making the film. No time was wasted and S Mahendar was appointed as the director. Kannada film Jogayya heroin Sumit Kaur pictures
Mumbai based actor-model Sumit Kaur Athwal has been chosen as the heroine in kannada film Jogayya. The kannada movie is directed by Prem. Prem's wife, kannada actress Rakshitha is producing this already hyped film which is the hundredth film of Shivaraj Kumar.
The names of several Bollywood heroines, Priyanka Chopra, Ameesha Patel, Praachi Desai and some other prominent heroines, were being discussed for long and the final choice is Sumit Kaur.
The film was launched with much fan fare on kannada actor Shivaraj Kumar’s birthday on July 12. Prem says that the film’s shoot will commence in Mysore from September 1. The audition was over a few days ago, but Prem wanted to confirm whether she looks good in a saree and after seeing the results he was extremely happy.
In her Facebook page, Sumit says that she loves to dabble in many creative platforms besides acting. She has said that she wants to work with people who are innovative in creating new ideas. Sumit Kaur had spent some time in Holland and has come back to Mumbai to pursue a career in films. Since she is going to Holland again Prem may have to finish all the portions featuring her before December.

Shooting for kannada Hat-trick hero Shivarajkumar's 100th film Jogayya will be delayed further as the actor has signed another film titled Kshatriya.

Shivarajkumar too wants to fulfill all his commitments before shooting for Jogayya. If all goes well, Jogayya will commence shooting from July.

Aghori characters in kannada cinema
Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar’s 100th film Jogayya has the star looking and playing an aghori - the pot smoking, flesh eating, womanising, divination-seeking men of saffron. Another kannada hero Vijay Raghavendra is also enacting a similar character in Vinayaka Gelayara Balaga. Joining the bandwagon is sexy Pooja Gandhi, in her forthcoming Rani Maharani.
However, going by the pictures, kannada actress Pooja looks more like a someone dressed up for Indian Halloween. But the credit of creating the original aghori on 70mm in recent times should go to Director Bala who turned romantic hero Arya into a hedonistic aghori in the Tamil film Naan Kadavul.

Kannada film Jogayya launch attended by Chiranjeevi, Surya and Vijay
The launch of 'Hatrick Hero' kannada actor Shivaraj Kumar's 100th film Jogayya directed by Prem was a colourful and grand affair. Mega Star Chiranjeevi and Kollywood superstars Vijay and Suriya also attended the function which was held at the Kanteerava Indoor stadium.
Chiranjeevi held the muhurath shot while Kannada actor Ambareesh switched on the camera and wished luck. Chiranjeevi was requested to speak in Telugu by his fans. Both Vijay and Suriya started off their speech with a Kannada sentence and later switched to Tamil.
Suriya said that his father gave him two photographs when he was young. "One was that of Goddess Chamundeshwari to seek her blessings. The other was of the Kannada movie star Dr. Raj Kumar for remembering him and following his footsteps in my profession. I am very happy to wish Shivaraj Kumar on this occassion. It is a big function and I hope that the film will also be a big hit", said Suriya.
Vijay thanked the Karnataka film fans for not encouraging video piracy in the state. He said that Shivaraj Kumar has always been his very good friend and he had watched the actor's films including AK 47, OM and Jogi. He also appreciated Shivaraj Kumar for acting in the remakes of old films by MGR, Super Star Rajnikanth and many others. "Shivaraj Kumar had acted in the remake of my own film Badri. He is certainly a versatile actor", said Vijay.
Mega Star Chiranjeevi remembered the great bond of friendhsip that he had with Dr. Raj Kumar, father of Shivaraj Kumar said that he was very pleased to be a part of the launch of Jogayya. "Dr. Raj Kumar sir called his fans Gods. It is certainly the biggest compliment that fans can get. He was a real 'Bangaradha Manushya' (God Man) and was affectionately called 'Annavru'. I am happy that Shivaraj Kumar has now taken the throne of his father and is enjoying all the love and affection of the Kannadigas. Despite the busy Assembly session, I chose to attend the function only because of Shivanna", said Chiranjeevi.

The 23rd James Bond film starring Daniel Craig may have been put on a backburner but the Kannada version of MI6 agent’s heroics will make a comeback after 32 years.
For over three decades Bond fans have been going to the cinemas to see their favourite spy save the world. And back home, they look into the mirror and pretend to be James Bond, saying, behind those dark sunglasses ‘The name’s Bond..... James Bond’.
Far back in 1968, Sandalwood saw the desi version of James Bond in none other than Rajkumar.
Being a James Bond fan, Rajkumar acted in four Bond inspired films -
Jedara Bale, Goadalli CID 999, Operation Jackpot Nalli CID 999 and Operation Diamond Racket.
Now after 32 years, kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar will step into the shoes of his father with Operation Golden Gang. The film will be announced on Shiva Rajkumar’s birthday on July 12. “Since two years I have been planning to make a Bond movie. Shiva Rajkumar was informed last year but due to various reasons we could not go ahead. After we got a green signal from Shiva Rajkumar, we are now finalising the storyline,” said producer Basava Reddy. He has already registered the title with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. The shooting will commence in January 2011.
After kannada film Operation Diamond Racket, it was announced that Operation Golden Gang would be the next in the series. But the film never went on floors due to various reasons. “Operation Diamond Racket was the costliest film made in those days. Almost Rs 38 lakh was spent on it. In those days, it was difficult to recover the cost of the making even if the film was a hit. I had a story ready for the sequel and it is a wonderful subject. If they approach me, I would be happy to share it,” said director Bhagwan. In fact, the director duo Dorai-Bhagvan (Dorai Raj and S K Bhagwan) made their debut with Jedara Bale.
Shivaraj kumar's new kannada film Jogayya
kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar’s 100th film Jogayya is scheduled to go on the floor on July 12, this year, on his birthday. But as of now, the heorine’s chair is up for grabs. Bollywood actor Amisha Patel was touted to play the lead opposite Shivanna, but a few days earlier, it was the latter who let the cat out of the bag. Director and producer of the film Prem is in talks with the pretty Amrita Rao.
Sources say that the Vivah star has demanded Rs 60 lakhs for the role. That is like a heroine asking for the moon in Sandalwood. Prem, whose home production is Jogayya, is willing to offer Rs 45 laks. That’s like giving half a moon. According to industry sources, it is still a damn moon compared to what other actresses are paid.
However, kannada director Prem says that the issue with Amrita is availability of dates and not about money. “We have short-listed Amrita Rao and Anushka Sharma. They say they can give us only five to six days at a stretch. But we need a leading lady who can give us bulk dates for each schedule. No matter what, the heroine for Jogayya will be finalised in a day or two,” says Prem. And suddenly a little birdie tells us that Amrita and Anushka’s loss could be Jacquiline Fernandez’s gain. Prem is said to be in talks with the Sri Lankan born Bollywood actress as well. Whatever happened to all the homegrown heroines of Sandalwood?
Shiva Rajkumar’s 100th kannada film Jogayya
With much fanfare, and in the presence of none other than the chief minister of the state, the 100th kannada film of Shiva Rajkumar Jogayya was recently announced by director Prem and his producer-wife Rakshita. The film’s shooting was supposed to commence on April 24 and release by the year end. But going by the recent developments, the film’s shooting may begin only in the second half of this year and release in 2011, the 25th year of Shiva Rajkumar’s film career.
The actor’s new kannada film Sugreeva will release this Friday. Then there is Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu and Tapassu scheduled for this year. Producer Kanakapura Srinivas has the dates and commitment from the actor for the 99th film. It has proved to be a jinx so far. Director Raghava Loki was to direct the film but his story demanded a big budget and has been put on hold. Then R Chandru announced that it would be his film Mailari that would fill the slot. But due to the problem with the title and the story, this film has also missed the line up.
Kanakapura Srinivas will remain the producer, but the story and director for the 99th film still remains a suspense. Prem, with a little more than expected time on his hands, is said to be considering returning to acting now. Interestingly, R Chandru was to direct Prem in Male as the hero but the two are not in talking terms.
Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan in Kannada Film Jogayya!!??
If Prem has his way, Priyanka Chopra might soon shake a leg for a song in Jogaya. Yes, first it was Mallika Sherawat in Preethi Yekke Bhoomi Melide, and then it was Priyanka Kothari in Raaj... The Showman.
Shivarajkumar's 100th film, Jogayya, will be launched on July 12 to coincide with his birthday. It will be directed by Prem, who had directed the mega hit Jogi, the prequel to Jogayya.
And now, the biggest sandalwoodbuzz is that director turned kanada actor Prem is all set to cast another Bollywood hottie for a song in his next film, Jogaya, the sequel to the Shivrajkumar-starrer Jogi. “I’m currently in talks with Priyanka’s manager to work out her dates. It’s a stylised song and Priyanka will fit the bill,” says Prem.
Then we move on to the question of who the lead heroine of Jogaya will be. Quite a few people think Jennifer Kotwal should reprise her role as the heroine. However, the film-maker wants a more seasoned actress. “I want somebody like Vidya Balan. In fact, I’m trying to rope her in for the film too,” he reveals.
Does he have any Sandalwood actresses in mind for the role? “There are very young actresses ruling the roost right now. But, I’ve kept my options open,” he wraps up.
Shiva Rajkumar apologises for kannada movie Hodimaga scenes
Sandalwood’s hat-trick star apologises to his fans over two ‘objectionable’ sequences in his latest film that had sparked an outcry.
Top Sandalwood kannada star Shiva Rajkumar has apologised to his fans over two scenes in his latest film Hattrick Hodimaga.
After the regional censor officer almost derailed the film following its ‘provocative’ title, the film’s release saw audience being provoked by two scenes which were in poor taste. In one scene, a rowdy masquerading as a cop urinates on the lead character ‘Surya’, played by Shiva Rajkumar. In another scene, the actor is shown swallowing funeral ashes of his sister, which is usually released into the river as part of the last rites.
‘NEVER AGAIN’
“I will not commit such mistakes again in my films. I am sorry for hurting the sensibilities of the audience. I promise you will see a different me in my future films,” Shiva Rajkumar said on Thursday. This is the first time that a lead actor has offered an apology over such reasons.
He said the ‘urination’ scene was inspired from Kamal Hasan’s Tamil film Mahanadi. “There was some discussion before the shooting this scene. But in the end, I went ahead with it. If I speak more about, it is bound to lead to a misunderstanding with the filmmakers. But I am sincere in accepting it was not in good taste,” he said.
POOR TASTE
In the scene where he swallows the funeral ash of his sister, he said, “We wanted to show the close relationship between a brother and sister. When I look back, I feel it was in poor taste. Had I discussed the scene with my wife, maybe I would have got a clear sense of what people might think about it. It is done and over now but my promise remains,” he said.
Even before these scenes sparked an outcry, the film was embroiled in a controversy after the regional censor board objected to its title Hodimaga, saying it was provocative. Later, the film was renamed Hattrick Hodimaga.
Kannada Movie Review - NANDA
ACTORS: Shiva Rajkumar, Sandhya, Avinash, Rangayana Raghu, Sharath Lohitashwa, Sharan, Srinath
Even though this is yet another addition to Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar’s long list of films themed on the underworld, Nanda deviates from the much recycled storyline quite a bit. Take out the overpowering backdrop of the underworld and this film is actually a family drama. The much publicised ‘real life-story’ of producer Maheen turns out to be quite entertaining.
Our hero (Shiva Rajkumar as Nanda) takes on a formidable family and helps his friend unite with his lover. As luck would have it, he falls in love with the sister of his friend’s girlfriend. Nanda saves an underworld element and is soon caught in the crossfire. The mysterious death of the leading lady’s father is attributed to Nanda and he is set to lose both lover and life. Since the story is from the hero’s viewpoint many of the dramatic elements get subdued between fights and songs. But there are enough twists in the tale that keep the momentum going.
The songs are not good enough and are thrust into the narrative like a rowdy would jab his sword into his victims. Free download kannada film songs here. Though there is an array of veteran actors, their characterisation is not much to write about. Despite these drawbacks this film would entertain Shiva’s fans no end.
Kannada Rowdy And Romeo
Becoming part of polite society seems to be one of his main motives. At the audio launch of ‘Nanda’ he was very keen to be seen as a family man and made sure that photos of his family members and those of Shiva Rajkumar made it in the same frame. Quite a few Janata Dal (S) politicians also made it to the function and Mahin showed off his political support. Those present included former minister N Cheluvarayaswamy, MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan, MLC Puttanna and MLA HC Balakrishna. The audio launch itself was held at a five-star hotel with hundreds in attendance.
TWO FACED
Mahin had invited the media twice during the shooting of his film. On both occasions he was humility personified. But the film crew say that it was only when Shiva Rajkumar was around that he behaved in that way. At other times he would be a terror. Though he would not harm anyone on the sets, his presence alone would mean everyone around were jittery.
COBRA TO NANDA
Mahin wanted to name his film ‘Cobra.’ He was fascinated with this title but the Film Chamber, in accordance with its new decision, refused to grant the English title and Mahin settled for ‘Nanda.’ “I was betrayed by everyone including my family members after my decision to marry the girl I loved. We are all together now, but what happened to me during those days is the basis for this story,” Mahin said.
Shiva Rajkumar too gave his own gloss on the movie, seemingly at pains to ensure that it wasn’t perceived as yet another baddie film. “Nanda is about a man who becomes trapped because of circumstances beyond him,” he said. Director Anantaraju made suitable changes to the real story to adapt it to the screen.
Mahin enjoys equal space with Shiva Rajkumar in the hoardings of the film. He flaunts his muscles and, for the uninitiated, it would seem that he too is a very popular actor. Hundreds of these hoardings have been put up across Bangalore with most of them concentrated in Mahin’s ‘area of influence.’
POLITICAL PALS
Mahin has his share of friends in politics too. He started with Ramalinga Reddy in Jayanagar when the latter was an MLA. Then, he shifted his loyalty to R V Devaraj, MLA of Chamrajpet. They soon fell out and Mahin contested elections against Devaraj in the 2004 assembly elections. Later, Mahin became a friend of B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan who defeated Devaraj. This friendship took Mahin close to former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and his political friends, N Cheluvarayaswamy, Puttanna H C Balakrishna and others. He celebrated Kumaraswamy and Zameer’s birthday on a large scale in Chamarajpet. A prelude to his own political ambitions?
MAHIN’S STORY
“My association with crime started when I was studying PUC at Jayanagar’s Vijaya College,” Mahin said. “I and my friend fell in love with two sisters. My friend eloped with my girlfriend’s sister. This made the girl’s parents lodge a complaint of kidnapping against my friend and I became a co-accused,” he added.
Soon his girlfriend’s parents learnt about their love story and separated them by sending her to an unknown place. “For an year and a half, I searched for her. Finally, she sent me a letter giving her address in Kolar and this was enough for me to trace her. Then I eloped with her and another kidnapping case was booked against me by my inlaws,” he said. “To separate me from my girlfriend, her relatives poisoned the mind of the police. Some of my rivals who were jealous of my growth in the real estate market joined hands with the police. I was framed in a murder case. I and my girlfriend were famous as the Mahin-Tabassum jodie in the entire Jayanagar IV Block. Some people even called us Laila-Majnu,” he recalled.
“Today, we are happily married and have three children.This was in my mind while penning the story. I have narrated my eight year pre-marriage love story in the movie.Apart from this, I have also told the audience about how some people unnecessarily dragged me into underworld and how eventually I came out of it,” he said.
