Kannada actor Darshan arrested

Kannada actor Darshan was arrested on Friday morning on charges of assaulting and threatening his wife (Darsha wife picture below) with a revolver and has been booked for various offences, including attempt to murder, police said.

Kannada film actor Darshan went to the house of Vijayalakshmi's friend Vidya with whom she was staying to demand that his wife should return to his residence in Raja Rajeshwari Nagar in Bangalore.

Darshan's wife Vijayalakshmi is admitted to Bangalore's Gayatri hospital's Intensive Care Unit for injuries. The couple married in 2000 and have a son.

Cases under different IPC sections including 307 (attempt to murder) and Arms Act have been registered against the actor, police said.

In her complaint, darshan wife Vijayalakshmi alleged that the actor has been torturing her and their three-year-old child. Police said Vijayalakshmi along with her child had gone to her friend's house last evening after a fight with Darshan.

The actor later went there and was returning home with his wife and child in his car when he allegedly assaulted her in an inebriated condition, police said.

Darshan, son of erstwhile Kannada film villain, Toogdeepa Srinivas, has a huge fan following. He has acted in numerous kannada movie blockbusters and has three big budget movies featuring him scheduled for release.

Is kannada actor Darshan and Nikhita rumour true?

What is cooking between Kannada film industry's leading star Darshan and multilingual actress Nikitha? If a gossip of well circulated Kannada tabloids is to be believed, both Darshan and Nikitha are cosy with each other and got married a few days ago.

Some tabloids have also written kannada actor Darshan has even brought a flat in Mumbai for the glamorous actress who is now busy in Kannada and Tamil films. There were also some rumours circulating that Darshan is slowly moving away from his wife Vijayalakshmi with whom he has been married for five years. The couple has a two year old son.
Darshan has not been reacting to these reports.

The unit members working for the Kannada film Prince which is now being shot in Mysore says that the actor has just laughed at these rumours. This is the first time that he has been linked to any of his co-artists as he has always claimed that he does not involve himself in choosing his heroine and would be happy to work with whom so ever the producer or director chooses.

Nikitha said that the whole thing is funny. The actress said that she has been meeting Vijayalakshmi practically every day on the sets of Prince and both of them are just laughing at these atrocious and baseless rumours. "Three days ago Vijayalakshmi Madam even told me that some more reports may come in a few tabloids. She said that she is not bothered with such rumours. There was a marriage sequence that was shot in Mysore for this film. Director Om Prakash shot the sequence for two days and within a few days I found speculative reports appearing in press that Darshan sir and I are married. It is so ridiculous. Why should these tabloids paint me in the black and spread false rumours. And none of these journalists have talked to me or to any other unit members to ascertain the truth. It is plain silly," says Nikitha.

Nikitha who has worked with Darshan in kannada film Yodha an year ago has signed two films with the actor in the past few months. Prince is the first of these two films and she has also been signed to play the lead in the historical film Sangolli Raayanna directed by Naganna. She has signed another new Kannada film with Ramesh Arvind.

Kannada actor Darshan is upset with producer

Kannada actor Darshan is unhappy with producer Ramesh Yadav. Not just unhappy but angry as well that he was not informed of the audio release of his kannada film Boss. It was only when he heard the songs on FM radio did he realise so. Though Darshan has not told Yadav about this, he is pouring his woes to his friends.

However, Darshan need not worry about the kannada film being released without his knowledge. He has in his possession some reels of the film. The actor says it is not he who has taken away some cans of reels. Ramesh Yadav has not paid for the unit hired from Toogudeepa Productions who have taken the reels, according to Darshan. Toogudeepa Productions is owned by Darshan, his brother director Dinakar and their mother.

Movie Review - Porki

DIRECTOR : M D Sridhar
ACTORS: Darshan, Praneetha, Devraj,
Shobraj, Avinash, Ashish Vidyarthi

When he wields the gun, he is Rambo. When he punches, he is Rocky. He talks like Mad Max and is invincible like an American comic superhero. That is Porki aka Datta aka Suryanarayan. Darshan is convincing as the all-destroying avatar of a tyrannosaurus in a china shop. Every scene is the same as that of the original (Telugu Pokiri), but what is missing is the feel that it is real. Porki feels more like a minefield where the characters are made to run around and get themselves killed.

Datta (Darshan) is a hit man who is ready to maim or kill anyone for a price. He has his principles though; no killing women and children. As the film progresses from one battle (with lots of lives lost) to another (with a higher number of lives lost) Datta emerges a bigger killer. Somehow our leading lady (Praneetha) seems to like this very character even though he does not have any of the five qualities she is searching for in her dream boy.

When you begin to wonder if Datta is destroying the underworld from inside, you realise that it was his motive in the first place. He is an undercover cop who is playing one rowdy element against the other to wipe them out. In the end, it is left to Ali Bhai (Ashish Vidyarthi) to mourn the losses of quality hence men in the underworld. The story is wafer-thin and the only possibility of the film being a good watch was to copy the emotions as they were in the original make. But even when Datta is watching the heroine expose her assets in an aerobic session, there is hardly any charge of hormones.

Music composer’s work is the best element in the film. Free download kannada film songs here. For some strange reason, the film at times looks like the 3D version of Avatar without the glasses. If you enjoy action films with lots of bullets. this is the film for you.

‘I’ll finish the film only when I want to’ - Kannada movie star Darshan

Kannada challenging star Darshan is faced with a big challenge indeed in his stalled project, Boss.

Kannada star Darshan says “In my entire career, I’ve had only one film that was dropped just after the muhurat. And now, Boss is the other film that’s been totally messed up,” he says.

Holding producer Ramesh Yadav responsible for the delay, Darshan says, “We still have to shoot two songs, besides completing dubbing for the talkie portions. When we gave Ramesh our dates, he didn’t complete the songs. But now, when we are committed to other projects, he tries to act smart by asking us to finish only the dubbing — so that he can release the film without the songs. But the ball is in my court now. I’ll do the unfinished songs and dubbing for the film only when I wish to.”

In fact, Ramesh hasn’t even settled the payment dues of several cast and crew members yet, alleges Darshan, wondering how on earth the producer issued a statement saying he’d release 100 prints of the unfinished film. “Let him first clear the payments to artistes and technicians, including heroines Navya Nair and Rekha, director Raghu Raj, Harikrishna (who has scored wonderful music), and supporting actor Rangayana Raghu,” fumes Darshan, adding, “Ramesh is all talk. If he thinks he knows the industry inside out, he should also be aware that I knew about the same industry when I was in my mother’s womb. My father, Toogudeepa Srinivas, was an established actor back then.”

After all this, the actor has quoted a higher remuneration than he would charge otherwise. “Not only that. I’ll complete the film only after the others’ payments are cleared. It’s everybody’s bread and butter, and if Ramesh is not going to pay everybody, then he won’t see the film release,” asserts kannada movie actor Darshan.

Though miffed with the delay of Boss, the actor’s excited about his other projects. Talking about his next release, Abhay, Darshan says, “It’s not the usual Darshan in Abhay. You will see me as a lover boy.” And the climax sequence for Porki is another reason for his excitement. “It was the biggest climax I’ve ever done. We had 10-12 scenes in the sequence, of which five were shot in Bangalore and the rest in Chennai,” says Darshan, who’ll next star in another Telugu remake, Shouryam, under Sadu Kokila’s direction. Defending himself doing remakes of non-Kannada films, Darshan says, “There’s nothing wrong in picking up something that’s good. Though I’m not opposed to remakes, all my films are not remakes,” he maintains.

Kannada action hero Darshan's wild side

We had heard that namma kannada actor Darshan is crazy about pets and hadn’t realized how much until we visited the actor’s home recently. It almost resembles a mini zoo.

“I’ve been passionate about animals since childhood. I like being surrounded by them because they’re the most faithful and loveable creatures on earth,” says Darshan.

Both the kannada actor darshan and his wife Viji love pets, which is why a cockatoo lives in their dining room. “He’s very possessive about us and somebody has to keep talking to him all the while,” says Viji. And then there are the African Macaus -- the largest variety in the parrot family -- who’ve made the living room their home. “They breed only on river banks and so far only one man in Chennai has been successful in breeding them,” Darshan informs us. Then there’s a Labrador and a St Bernard who eat sausages for breakfast!

*********

We know how actors indulge in luxury goods and property. But have you heard of them splurging big bucks on exotic pets? Everybody in the Kannada industry knows of Darshan’s love for animals. But not many are aware that not only does the actor house a dozen dogs at his sprawling Bengaluru bungalow, but also has a farm in Mysore which has animals that he can’t accommodate at home. There are horses, a variety of birds, some more dogs and even a camel. When we met the actor recently, he told us that an ostrich has just joined the gang!
