Ramya and Srinagara Kitty new kannada film Siddalingu

Kannada actors Kitty and Ramya may not have completed the shoot for 'Sanju Weds Geetha', but that hasn’t stopped film-makers from approaching them to do another film together. However, Kitty was not the first actor who was considered for the project, titled Siddalingu.

It was first offered to Ganesh and then to Yogi. But that doesn’t bother Kitty in the least. “When the director, Vijay Prasad, couldn’t find anyone for the film, he signed me. Ramya will be playing my love interest and I share a comfort level with her. I’m happy to be working with her again,” says Kitty.

The kannada actor says that the story of the film is a simple one. “It is about a man, who’s had this lifelong dream of buying a car, which he realises with the support of the woman he loves,” he says, adding that he was surprised when he heard that Ramya was playing a teacher in a government school in Siddalingu, because “it’s a completely deglam role.”

The shoot of kannada film Siddalingu will start in mid-July after Kitty completes work on Mathe Mungaru. Ramya will start shooting for the film in September.

Will fatherhood dictates Kannada actors choice of films

PUNEET RAJKUMAR

I always choose roles that family audiences can watch. So, I don’t specifically worry about how my children may perceive the projects I do. Ours is a film family and I’m happy to have done such films so far.

SUDEEP

Fatherhood has definitely brought out the best in me. Earlier, I took things for granted, but my daughter has made me take life more seriously — both professionally and personally. But it hasn’t affected my choice of roles because I’ve never done films that featured obscene scenes or that would make audiences uncomfortable. But being a father has definitely helped me become a better actor.

GANESH

I’ve made an attempt to balance my time between my daughter, Chaaritrya, and my films. I do just 2-3 films a year now and I’m trying to spend as much time with her as possible. But I don’t think an artiste changes because he becomes a father. I’ve always played characters that my audiences like, and will continue to do so. I might, however, do the sort of roles my daughter would like to see me in when she turns three or four.

SRIMURALI

I have become more picky in terms of the roles I play, but just because I’m a father now, it doesn’t mean that I’ll only play a father on-screen. I’ll continue doing what’s best for me until audiences get bored of me. But it’s a great feeling to have a new entrant in the family. Previously, dad used to take care of me. Now, it’s my turn to be more responsible.

SRINAGAR KITTY

Ever since I became a father, I try to spend as much time as possible with my daughter Parinita between shoots. She’s too young right now, she can’t even say ‘papa’, but as she grows up, I might do roles that she’d like to see me in.

Ramya and Srinagara Kitty in new kannada movie Sanju weds Geetha

Based on a real incident that happened in the mid 90s, kannada film Sanju Weds Geetha trackes what transpires in 12 hours. Produced by kannada director director Nagshekar's college friends - Pramod Narayan and Murali Mohan - the film is dedicated to his guru Shanker Nag and starts srinagara kitty and ramya.

Nagshekhar, a comedy artist who saw success with his first directorial Aramane, created the story for Sanju Weds Geetha three and half years ago. The director is erecting seven sets for the film and plans to have a 60-day shoot.

A romantic entertainer, the film has six songs and three action sequences. Srinagara Kitty plays the lead role and Ramya, who missed Aramane, says she has a chance to do a performance-oriented role after a long time.

Kannada actor Srinagar Kitty's daughter picture

Kannada actor Srinagar Kitty and his wife Bhavana welcomed their daughter on Valentine’s Day this year, but have taken more than two months to decide on a name for her. After much haggling, Bhavana’s choice of Parinita won. A month’s delay in the last schedule of Sanju Weds Geetha and the completion of Matte Mungaaru has let the actor spend quality time with his family. He has also signed another film Siddalingu, opposite Ramya, shooting for which will start in July. Kitty is wondering if he can have a grand naming ceremony for his daughter by then.

As we know that Kannada actor Srinagar Kitty and his wife Bhavana (daughter of noted journalist Ravi Belegere) have welcomed a baby girl on Valentine’s day. Bhavana has given birth to her first child at Cradle Hospital in Jayanagar.

Candid Ramya with Kitty and Diganth

Kannada actress Ramya proved to be a toughie for Srinagara Kitty at a film function on Sunday. It was the audio launch of Kitty and kannada actor Diganth’s new film Swayamwara (remake of Hindi film Mujse Shaadi Karogi) and the actress was a guest.

Reflecting on the experience of an acquaintance on a cruise liner, Kitty remembered a raunchy joke which he enjoyed narrating. The joke obviously did not go well with Ramya whose immediate retort to the actor was, “Are you being a good husband?” Kitty had no answer and Ramya felt her job done by asking the same question again. Kitty has been married for a year. Kitty walked away to his car chastised.

Incidentally, Kitty and Ramya are costars in the forthcoming Sanju Weds Geetha. Nonetheless, Ramya also proved to be brand ambassadress for Swayamwara. It was not just through her attendance at the audio launch of the film but her generous ways. While she waited in the lobby of the hotel where the audio launch was held, a foreigner walked up to her and asked what the audio album in her hand was about. She pointed out to Kitty and said he was the actor in the film and gave away the CD asking the foreigner to listen to it. “Now
Swamyamwara will be promoted in Europe,” she gushed.

Parvathi Menon liplock scene with Kannada actor Srinagar Kitty

This kannada film’s release date isn’t confirmed yet, but Sandlewood is already buzz with the news that Parvathi Menon has a kissing scene with Srinagar Kitty in Male Barali Manju Erali.

And when we called the actress on Friday evening, she confirmed the news.

“Lip-locks in films aren’t new to Indians. There have been sensual scenes in classics that have become masterpieces now,” she says in defence of the kiss in her film. And Parvathi cannot understand why such a fuss is being made over something as harmless as a kiss.

“Films depict all sorts of things — pain, fear, anger, rape and murder. But no one ever questions any of that. But there’s always a hullabaloo made when it comes to a liplock,” she says. The actress emphasises that the kiss is integral to the story. “Films are a reflection of life, and in Male..., it’s the characters, Sneha and Vishwas, who share an emotional and intellectual bond. So the kiss was necessary to take the story forward,” she maintains, adding that the scene was not intended to be a gimmick.

“We don’t want people to watch the film just for that one scene. And we don’t want them to run it down just for that one scene either. Male... should be watched and judged as a whole,” she maintains. “Hats off to Vijaylakshmi ma’am (the kannada director) for ensuring that the characters are not compromised. There’s a solid reason for every scene,” she adds.
