Kannada film Paramathma video and songs

The long-awaited combination of kannada director Yogaraj Bhat and kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar is finally being realised in YB’s next flick.

It’s the big question on everyone’s mind. Why didn’t two of Sandalwood’s best known brand names collaborate on a project earlier? And when at last they have come together, kannada filmmaker Yogaraj Bhat and Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s upcoming kannada film Paramathma (Free download songs here) has fetched 3.5 crore — beating even Jogaiah’s record — for its TV rights even as the film is just half-way in its making. The duo was earlier supposed to do two films — YB had approached Puneeth for Mungaru Male, while Lagori didn’t work out due to its sheer logistics. “This movie will hopefully make up for all the disappointments of our fans in the past. I’m excited about kannada film paramaatma because it stars a top notch and a dedicated actor like Puneeth. It’s a subject that will show a different dimension to him; it will be his best kannada film yet,” says Yogaraj. The director adds that he’s been impressed with the way Puneeth’s career graph has gone. “He’s been a child artist in many films and I was floored by his acting in Bhagyavantha. Besides, he has an amazing biography of over 20 years. If you compare, he’s my senior as it’s only been about six to seven years since I’ve started delivering kannada films, even though I’ve been in the industry for over a decade,” says YB. Heroine of Paramathma is Deepa Sannidhi. (Pictures of Deepa Sannidhi, paramathma heroin).

This kannada film’s unique title paramatma means the almighty. But Yogaraj Bhat, being the wordsmith he is, explains that it means the purest of souls. “Puneeth plays this innocent, earthy guy who is unassuming and lives life on his own terms,” shares Yogaraj. Puneeth, though, is known for his mass image — his fights and dance moves being the highlights. Yogaraj, meanwhile, is known for his soulful musicals and there’s no maarpeet in his movies. So how will he showcase the Power Star? “It will include the usual commercial ingredients but with new cinematic dimensions. And only Puneeth can carry off what I’m trying to experiment with in Paramathma,” feels the director. So when two of the industry’s biggest names come together, isn’t there a clash of ideas? “I was apprehensive about it, too. But Puneeth is an actor who completely surrenders himself to the director. He’s such a patient listener and goes entirely by the director’s vision. He’s a delight to work with,” says YB. The film also stars newbie Deepa Sannidhi, Aindrita Ray and Ramya Barna. He usually doesn’t repeat his heroines, so what made him cast Aindrita and Ramya? “Aindrita is a fabulous performer and I realised her potential in Manasaare. It’s the same with Ramya with whom I worked in Pancharangi,” he says. Paramathma might also be the first time that Yogaraj shoots in foreign locations. “Until now I showcased locales in Karnataka only because I’m someone who believes in being authentic. I won’t go abroad just because it’s a fad. But we are planning to shoot some scenes and songs abroad,” he reveals. (free donwload kannada songs here)

Ganesh and Yograj Bhat in a new film again?

Talks of the Mungaru Male combo of kanada actor Ganesh and Yogaraj reuniting for a project has been doing the rounds. Any truth to it? “Yes, both of us want to do a film together. But he has about four films to finish while I have my commitments. Let’s see how things work out,” says YB.

Will fatherhood dictates Kannada actors choice of films

PUNEET RAJKUMAR

I always choose roles that family audiences can watch. So, I don’t specifically worry about how my children may perceive the projects I do. Ours is a film family and I’m happy to have done such films so far.

SUDEEP

Fatherhood has definitely brought out the best in me. Earlier, I took things for granted, but my daughter has made me take life more seriously — both professionally and personally. But it hasn’t affected my choice of roles because I’ve never done films that featured obscene scenes or that would make audiences uncomfortable. But being a father has definitely helped me become a better actor.

GANESH

I’ve made an attempt to balance my time between my daughter, Chaaritrya, and my films. I do just 2-3 films a year now and I’m trying to spend as much time with her as possible. But I don’t think an artiste changes because he becomes a father. I’ve always played characters that my audiences like, and will continue to do so. I might, however, do the sort of roles my daughter would like to see me in when she turns three or four.

SRIMURALI

I have become more picky in terms of the roles I play, but just because I’m a father now, it doesn’t mean that I’ll only play a father on-screen. I’ll continue doing what’s best for me until audiences get bored of me. But it’s a great feeling to have a new entrant in the family. Previously, dad used to take care of me. Now, it’s my turn to be more responsible.

SRINAGAR KITTY

Ever since I became a father, I try to spend as much time as possible with my daughter Parinita between shoots. She’s too young right now, she can’t even say ‘papa’, but as she grows up, I might do roles that she’d like to see me in.

Ganesh new kannada film title - KOOL, is Sakath Hot Maga

Kannada golden star Ganesh picks title suggested by Bangalore Mirror reader for his new home production.

Golden Star Ganesh has been flooded with mails from his fans suggesting a title for his new home production. The actor had requested his fans through Bangalore Mirror last week for a title starting with ‘K’ or ‘Ka’ (in Kannada). There were over a hundred names suggested by his fans and readers.

The one title that has Ganesh all excited is Kool (Cool). “In Kannada, it starts with the alphabet (ka) which we want. It reflects the theme of our film where I play a college student. The kicker we came up with is Sakath Hot Maga,” said Ganesh. Kool was suggested by his fan Chaitra B.

The title will, however, be announced officially only after approval by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. The film to be directed by ‘Mussanje’ Mahesh will go on the floors on June 21. Ratnavelu is the cinematographer. This is the second home production for Ganesh after Maleyali Joteyali. His wife Shilpa is the producer.

ULLASA UTSAHA - Kannada Film Review

DIRECTOR: Devaraja Palan

ACTORS: Ganesh, Yami Goutham, Sharan,Rangayana Raghu

A star cast in a particular brand has a great task doing movies that would appeal to his core audience. And to satisfy the paying audience beyond that fan base is much harder. Ganesh, who had run into a rough patch not so long ago has undoubtedly bounced back with a film that would add to his romantic image. This film for the record is the remake of the Telugu film Ullasanga Utsahanga.

A young girl from a dysfunctional family yearns for her childhood friend Balaji. As she grows up she believes she is in love with him though she does not meet him for years. She runs away from a wedding her stepmother arranges for her. Cut to the city, Preetham (Ganesh) a dandy and misfit in his family falls in love with her. He cannot reconcile the fact that she is in love with someone else. But he respects her decision and tries to help her find lost love. They journey together to Kolkota where Balaji is waiting for her. How this love triangle disentangles itself is shown in some sentimental, a few romantic and a couple of humorous scenes.

Ganesh is at his best in scenes where he plays the losing lover. It is one of those filmi episodes that he has made his very own. For some reason, his looks in Ullasa Utsaha are the best in any of his films. Newcomer and Mumbai import Yami Goutham looks like Haripriya. She is adequate in the role but the chemistry between the lead pair is not great. GV Prakash Kumar, a relative of AR Rehman, scores for his first Kannada film. Only a couple of songs are top class. The rest are plain.

What works for the film is the strict adherence to a well worked out storyline and the comedy situations that are worked into it. A truly enjoyable film. But be wary of Sandalwood cinema halls. Make sure the one you visit has the AC working. The 'main theatre' (a superstitious release of every Kannada film in one cinema hall in Gandhinagar) goes horribly wrong for this film. Anupama, the cinema hall running this film has only ceiling fans that suck out air and gives you a sweat shower.

First kannada hit of the year

Maleyali Joteyali has been declared a hit and will now release in the US and the UK. An ecstatic Ganesh now readies for his second home production.

Maleyali Joteyali is the first film in 2010 to be declared a hit. The film is in its fifth week and Ganesh says he is ‘safe’. “I was worried for the first ten days. But after that there was no cause for concern. As a producer I am safe,” the actor said. His wife Shilpa is the official producer of the film.

The unexpected bonanza is the success of the film in north Karnataka. “The expectation from north Karnataka was low after the recent floods. But to our surprise the returns are three times more than what we expected. Even in a small centre like Banahatti, the film is running in its fifth week,” Ganesh said.

So buoyed is Ganesh that he has already begun working on his second home production. “Only script work is going on which should be done by March. It’s likely the film will be launched in June or July,” he said. Before that Ganesh’s Ullasa Utsaha will release; his Yeno Ontara is under production. He will act in HR Rehaman’s new film before his second home production starts.

However the cherry on the cake is the fact that Maleyali Joteyali is being released in USA, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand and Germany in two weeks. After that the worldwide distributors Bevin Exports will release the films in the UK, Hong Kong and Dubai. Joel P of Bevin Exports says that Maleyali Joteyali will see one of the biggest releases overseas for any Kannada film. Ganesh’s Mungaru Male is the highest grossing Kannada film overseas. It had made Rs 36 lakh in the US alone. Maleyali Joteyali is expected to do business close to Rs 20 lakh.

Golden star Ganesh as Dancing Star in his next home production

NAMSKARA, Namskara, Namskara. You saw your favourite Comedy Time Ganesh become the Golden Star. And in 2010, the Kannada actor, who’s popular for his lover boy act, is set to change track.

In his next movie, Ganesh will be presented as a dancing star. “He has already proved his mettle as an actor. So, in our next outing, which will again be a home production, we’ll experiment with an image that G has never donned before this. He will be seen at his grooving best. He will then officially be known as the Dancing Star. I plan to portray him like Shahid Kapoor and Allu Arjun in Chance Pe Dance and Arya 2,” says Shilpa, wife of actor Ganesh.

“Nobody can showcase Ganesh the way I do. I know what’s best for him and it’s a given since I’m his wife and know him so closely,” adds the producer. “We will begin with a make-over and give him a suave look. I’m already in talks with a biggie from Mumbai to work with us on the project. It’ll be a musical sensation. Also, I love the way Farah Khan presents her heroes — I want to make G look like that. Every girl will fall in love with him,” smiles Shilpa.

Gossip has it that it’s Shilpa who’s behind the tremendous change in G — be it his styling, fitness or success. “Really? Actually yes. I’ve changed his food habits to begin with. Remember how fat he looked in Mungaru Male? He’s become more diet-conscious now. He works out and is totally dedicated to his craft. His dress sense has improved because I ensure he’s togged in the best brands. But I also have to give him credit because he’s very organised and focused. I just support him,” explains Shilpa.

They work together as friends rather than a married couple. Shilpa admits she had a strategy in place even when she got going with Maleyali Jotheyali. “Other than a good script and cast, I ensured that we were associated with the biggest brands. We tied up with two corporate giants and a local channel that Ganesh began his career with,” she says. After becoming the brand ambassador of a cola brand and a cellular company, we hear an international brand will soon tie up with Ganesh. “He has everyone swooning over him, especially women. But I know only I have him, so that’s even better,” laughs Shilpa.

Kannada actor Ganesh’s Ugadi gift

IT was a double whammy for kannada actor Ganesh’s family on Ugadi — the Golden star’s wife Shilpa delivered a baby girl early Friday morning. Daddy G told SandlewoodBUZZ about his first reaction upon seeing his daughter. “Ontara jumm anthu to see my own reflection,” he said.

The couple is yet to name the baby. Are they going to take astrology and numerology into consideration? “That wasn’t how I was named. I was born during Ganesh Chaturthi and that’s why I was named Ganesh. We have time to think about the baby’s name,” he said. “Right now, my husband calls her Goldie,” added Shilpa. It was a normal delivery with no complications, as opposed to the predictions of three astrologers who said that Shilpa would have to undergo a C-section. Ganesh, who couldn’t take his eyes off the baby, kept asking his friends whether she’d be the same size for three months.

The kannada actor is looking forward to spending time with Goldie. But he’d spent ‘quality time’ with her even before she was born. “When Shilpa was pregnant, I used to play a lot of music and movies and tell a lot of jokes for the baby,” he laughed, “Now I’m going to take a month off from work to spend time with her.”

CIRCUS - Kannada Movie Review

DIRECTOR: Dayal Padmanabhan

ACTORS: Golden star Ganesh, Archana Gupta, Avinash, Pawan, Yethiraj

The two most popular themes of commercial films in Kannada are love and the underworld. Kannada golden star Ganesh has never done anything beyond love and director Dayal Padmanabhan almost always has done films dealing with the seamy side of life. But together in Circus, they present a film quite unlike the usual. Ganesh has managed to break his ‘love mould’ and Dayal upgrades himself to an ‘A-grade’ director.

Dhanush (Ganesh) and his gang of friends are pranksters. Their mode of cleaning up the society is by writing anonymous letters to housewives about their cheating husbands and railway station masters about a fictious visits by the minister. But their luck gives way when unwittingly Dhanush’s name and address are mentioned in a threat they mail to a station master. They have little time to stop the letter from reaching its destination as they chase it while on a train journey. To their horror, they also find out that their prank is being imitated in real life by some terrorists. A love story is blended into this train journey. To Dayal’s credit the story never deviates and has a smooth flow.

To break the romance and underworld monopoly in Kannada films, it is not enough to make a decent film on any other subject. The film has to be more than good which Circus strives hard to be but just falls short. The excessive focus on Ganesh continues while other seasoned actors hardly get to mouth a sentence. The sketchy characters of the terrorists and the lack of momentum pulls down the film. Despite the drawbacks, Circus is worth a watch. Free download kannada film songs here.

Ganesh performs dangerous stunts

Golden Star Ganesh did a crucial stunt scene underneath a moving train inside a150 meters tunnel area. Ganesh was tied with a rope in the front side below the engine with his legs on the break with the help of a strong pin which was choreographed by stunt director Ravi Verma.

In this another important scene Golden star jumps from one bogey to another when the train was moving at 40 kilometers. “This is another chilling moment as I was holding my breath”, says Ganesh.

The dangerous portions were shot in the moving train Gandhada Gudi Express that runs in a restricted area for the film as prescribed by the Southern Railway Department.

It was for the movie Circus.

For the 20 days shoot, producer Dayal Padmanabhan spent almost Rs 60 lakhs in which 18 lakhs he had to pay caution deposit with Railway Department. One of the staff of the Railway Department Chandru is also acting in a supporting role
